PM Awas Yojana: Govt Removes 3 Major Rules, More People Can Now Apply

Three Major Conditions Removed – What’s New?

Earlier, the government had listed 13 different conditions that a person had to meet in order to qualify for benefits under PMAY. This made it hard for many genuinely needy people to get help. But the good news is that three of these conditions have now been removed to widen the scheme’s reach.

The first big change is in the income requirement. Previously, applicants had to have a minimum monthly income of ₹10,000 to qualify. But now, this limit has been increased to ₹15,000. That means people earning up to ₹15,000 a month can now apply and be eligible for the benefits of this scheme.

Another major condition that has been relaxed relates to vehicle ownership. Earlier, if someone owned a two-wheeler or even a small fishing boat, they were considered ineligible for the scheme. But now, that condition has been dropped. So, if you own a scooter or a bike, that won’t stop you from applying anymore. This is a big relief for many who use a two-wheeler for daily commute or work purposes.
